The BCMP Group programmes cater for up to 8 young people and take place one morning or afternoon per week, or a full day for a period of 10 weeks. We can also cater for smaller programmes that last 2 or 3 days, and we can also tailor programmes to meet your needs - this would need to be discussed with us in order for the young people to get the most out of the programme.

Types of programmes:
Most of our group programmes include a combination of off-road training sessions, group based activities and discussions relevant to the needs of the young people. This is dependant on the type of programme we are running.
The main focus of the programmes are to:
engage young people in group discussions relevant to them

Examples of previous group work programmes:
Girls On The Move
Following a succesful bid to the Robertson Trust, the Project were awarded a grant from the Trust's 'Girls On The Move' fund to run two specific programmes with a focus on encouraging girls and young women to become physically active and improve their general well-being and self-esteem.
We have just successfully completed the first of these programmes, which involved 8 girls from Ross High School in Tranent. The girls attended the Project every Tuesday morning for ten weeks, within which the girls chose to focus on the off-road training as their main activity - developing their riding standard and recieving graded certificates for all their hard work.
The programme also included a session on 'Drugs Education', delivered by East Lothian's Community Development Officer for Drugs and Alcohol - Mike Whitton, as well as a 'Healthy Eating' session where the girls were given the opportunity to participate in preparing fruit and vegatable salads.
The programme was a great success with good attendance rates and good progress in their off-road drving skills.

Ross High Programmes
Unlike most of our other group programmes, our Ross High session lasts a full day. Each Ross high group is unique in that the young people referred for a programme are conscientously selected by Ross High support and guidance staff to ensure an effective and supportive group dynamic.
Project staff work closely with very commited Ross High staff to ensure a positive, worthwhile and constructive experience for al the young people involved. The content of the programme, in particular the group based activities, are structured around the group's needs and ultimate aim's. Each individual identifies personal targets which they work towards at school and review each week in the group setting - with targets being linked to their riding time.
Ross High value our programmes with their pupils and this year we have been fortunate enough to carry out two very successful programmes. One was kindly funded by Tranent's Local Action Fund, while the other was funded through the Projects allocation from the Regeneration fund.
"Outstanding commitment from its workers and true meaningful multi-agency working, fully integrated into the pupil suport system - the Bridge Centre Motorcycle Project has benefited our youngsters greatly. Young people who would have been disaffected and disengaged have made real changes, and are interacting more positively within the school community." (Yvonne Binks and Linda Girot, Ross High School, Tranent)
